Title of talk: Electric Vehicle Myths and Real-world Ownership Experience
Description: Electrically powered cars have been a part of the industry for about as long as gasoline and diesel; however, they fell out of favor in the early 1900s. Fast forward to the early 2000s and battery technology from laptops and other electronic devices had created a mass-market supply of high performance battery cells that could be put to use in a new generation of electric vehicles. This talk dives into the myths, reality, and personal ownership experience of electric vehicles.
Bio: Brian Anderson grew up in Portage, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. After graduating, he found a new home in Minnesota and has had a career designing land mobile radios, surgical lasers, automotive scan tool software and a variety of medical device software at Medtronic, from where he retired in 2020. He has lived in Plymouth, MN for almost 30 years and raised two great kids along with his talented and supportive wife, Karen.
Brian and Karen are 100% electric in the transportation department. Brian drives a 2020 Tesla Model Y, while Karen drives a 2020 Chevy Bolt. Lawn and garden work is also 100% electric in the household, with Ryobi 40V lawn mower, leaf blower and chainsaw and 2 stage Snow Joe snowblower.
