Electric school buses are a triple win

I was recently contacted by Martin, a school volunteer at an extracurricular science program. Martin related that a student in the program had come across an earlier blog post I had written, as well as an informative article on electric school buses, and wondered if I would be willing to put a link to that article on that blog page. I’m doing one better by making a dedicated blog post that will stay on the site indefinitely, because this is a really important topic!

The contact was out of the blue and I seldom get these, but seemed sincere, so I visited the link Martin provided. I found that the article is well written, covering many of the advantages of electric commercial transportation in general. The company is called Transfinder and they provide school bus routing and related software. Here’s a link to the article: https://www.transfinder.com/resources/the-case-for-electric-school-buses.

I won’t recap the advantages listed in the article, it is a quick read and you should check it out. The article does a great job spelling out advantages under improved health and safety and lower operation cost subheadings. But wait, that’s two wins and I mentioned triple win in the headline. The third win is, of course, a reduction in planet warming greenhouse gas emissions. It is unfortunate that this most critical benefit is not discussed, but the current state of our public discourse is to politicize what is, in reality, basic science.

Thanks to Martin for reaching out. Please feel free to pass on the link to this post to your nephew, the class, and any others who might be interested.
